An exciting annual feature of the London Fiddle Convention is the competition, open to anyone, to play in any style. In 2006 it was won by 17-year old Rachel Hall, who came down from Norfolk. She played one of her own compositions "The joke's on the jester", accompanied by her Dad, Trevor, on guitar. As her prize she took part in the evening concert, performing four numbers, including another of her own compositions. Her success did not go un-noticed back in Norfolk, as the following press clippings show.
