Fiddle Player for weddings

It's wonderful to have a fiddle player at a wedding. Unlike a string quartet, a pianist or harp, a fiddler is flexible, moveable and informal.
  wedding fiddler

fiddle player for wedding   My name is Chris Haigh. I've been a professional fiddle player for many years, and have played at almost every kind of wedding. If you're looking for an Irish jig, a Scottish air, a Viennese waltz, a Hungarian csardas, a romantic gypsy tune or a dramatic tango, I've got plenty up my sleeve.

I've played at weddings and private parties for all manner of high profile clients, including Paul McCartney, Sting, Elton John, Princess Anne, Kate Middleton, Tom Hanks and countless others. I've also played fiddle at any number of garden parties, birthdays, corporate functions and even funerals.

In 2015 I played for a wedding proposal at the Kyoto garden in Holland Park. The chosen spot was by the waterfall in front of the lake- a very romantic spot, but also quite crowded with it being a sunny sunday afternoon. I played her favourite song ("Rather Be"); he handed her the ring, she burst into tears, they hugged, she said yes, and all the onlookers cheered and applauded, just like in a film!

  fiddle accordion duo

I often play solo fiddle at weddings, but a duo with accordion is an excellent choice, especially for French, Italian or Jewish music.

I also appear with larger outfits- a barn dance or ceilidh band for example is ideal for a wedding. I also work with a gypsy trio, a klezmer trio, and five-piece 20's band .

If your wedding involves an interesting combination of nationalities, I can put together a band that will include both types of music. I've done Jewish/Scottish weddings, Irish/Russian, and English/Balkan.

I'm based in London and much of my work is here and in the Home Counties. However, I'm happy to travel to wherever you are. I've played for a marriage proposal on a rooftop in Rome, at a Burns Night in Iceland, for a restaurant opening in Kuwait, and a wedding in a forest outside Athens.
I have a huge repertoire of fiddle tunes in many different styles, most of which I have studied in detail so that you can expect some authenticity.Outside of my wedding and function work I am a serious performer. I've appeared on over 80 albums, and have written eight books on different aspects of fiddle playing. Browse around the rest of this site (see the links on the left) for some of my writing on different fiddle styles.
